About the series
The European Poker Tour has been the continent's leading circuit since 2004. Each stop is a festival of fifty or more events rather than a single tournament, built around a €5,300 Main Event.
PokerStars has confirmed four stops for 2026: Paris in February, Monte-Carlo at the turn of April and May, Barcelona in August and Prague in December. Malta and Cyprus have both appeared on recent schedules and neither is confirmed for 2026.
Barcelona is reliably the largest stop by field size and Prague is the one most worth planning a trip around, because early December in the city means the Christmas markets are open and the poker room is a short tram ride from the old town. It is also the cheapest of the four by some distance.
The EPT is a good first festival for anyone who has not played one. Side events start well below the Main Event buy-in, satellites run throughout, and the structure of a two-week festival means there is always something starting rather than a single day you have to be ready for.

Before you enter
Two things are worth checking that have nothing to do with the poker. Tournament rake is quoted separately in the buy-in, so a $1,000 + $100 event carries a 10% fee, and that fee is the largest single cost most tournament players face.
And ICM means tournament chips are not money: correct play near a pay jump is far tighter than the raw pot odds suggest, because chips you could lose are worth more than chips you could win. Our hold'em odds section covers the arithmetic behind both.
