How it works
Once a point has been established, a Come bet treats the very next roll as its own personal come-out. A 7 or 11 wins immediately, a 2, 3 or 12 loses, and any other number becomes your own point which must repeat before a 7.
Because the roll sequence is identical to a come-out roll, the probabilities are identical too. The house edge is exactly the same 7/495, or 1.4141%.
Why bother
The line bet gives you one point. Come bets let you build several, each at the same low edge, so more of your money is working at 1.41% rather than sitting idle or drifting toward the proposition bets in the middle of the table.
A common approach is a line bet plus two Come bets, each backed with odds. That keeps three numbers working at the cheapest prices on the table.
Odds behind a Come bet
Just like the line bet, you can back a Come point with free odds at exactly zero house edge. This is where the real value is, and it is the reason to prefer Come bets over place bets.
