Nassau casinos

Nassau's casinos are the whole Bahamian casino market that matters, and both are resort floors a passport gets you into and a work permit keeps you out of. From 2 to 17 December 2026 one of them hosts the WSOP's richest festival.

Nassau at a glance: Nassau has two casinos of consequence. Baha Mar Casino on Cable Beach lists 119 live tables across 18 games, more than a thousand slot machines and a William Hill sportsbook. Atlantis Casino on Paradise Island has 80 tables dealing blackjack, craps, roulette and baccarat, with slots around the clock and tables from 10am to 4am. Entry is 18 with a passport; Bahamian citizens, residents and work-permit holders are barred by the Gaming Act 2014. Winnings are not taxed. WSOP Paradise, 20 bracelet events, runs at Baha Mar from 2 to 17 December 2026.

The two floors

Baha Mar Casino is the larger and the newer, inside the Cable Beach resort west of downtown. The operator's own page lists 119 live tables offering 18 different games, blackjack, baccarat, craps and roulette among them, more than a thousand slot machines, electronic table games and live sports betting by William Hill. It is the floor the WSOP Paradise series moves to in December 2026 after its years at Atlantis, with 20 bracelet events and guarantees the organiser lists at over $120 million.

Atlantis Casino on Paradise Island is the one most people picture. Its page lists 80 gaming tables, including blackjack, craps, roulette, baccarat and mini-baccarat, with slots open 24 hours daily and table games from 10am to 4am. A second, smaller room, Sea Glass, runs slots daily from 11am to 2am and tables Thursday to Saturday. The operator's poolside gaming is marked 18 and over, which is the Act's age for the whole floor.

Square footage and poker-room details are not on either operator's page and are not quoted here. Outside the WSOP festival, expect poker to be thin; the Bahamas is a table-game and slot market.

Who may play, and what it costs

The Gaming Act 2014 is the door policy. Nobody under 18 may enter a gaming area, and no domestic player, meaning a resident citizen, a permanent resident, anyone holding or needing a work permit, or the spouse of one, may take part in casino gaming at all. Visitors show a passport. Winnings are not taxed in the Bahamas, and the gaming taxes in the Act fall on the operator.

Both floors are American in their table mix, and that is where the cost is decided. Roulette here is overwhelmingly the double-zero wheel, 5.26% a spin against 2.70% on a single zero, so a single-zero table, if you find one, is the only one worth sitting at. On blackjack, read the payout line before the chips go down: 6:5 turns a 0.52% game into a 1.87% one. The craps free odds behind the line remain the cheapest wager in the building at exactly zero.

Practical notes

  • The Bahamian dollar is pegged one-to-one to the US dollar and both are accepted everywhere; decline any terminal's offer to convert.
  • Bring the passport itself. It is the document that proves you are not a domestic player, and the cage will ask for it on larger transactions.
  • The bridge from Nassau to Paradise Island is a short taxi; Cable Beach is about fifteen minutes west of downtown.
  • Hurricane season runs June to November. December, when the WSOP arrives, is the start of the dry season and the expensive one.
  • Cruise passengers can play only once the ship is outside territorial waters; the shore casinos apply the same passport rule to everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many casinos are there in Nassau?
Two of consequence: Baha Mar on Cable Beach, with 119 tables and more than a thousand machines, and Atlantis on Paradise Island with 80 tables.
Can Bahamians play at Baha Mar or Atlantis?
No. The Gaming Act 2014 bars domestic players, which includes resident citizens, permanent residents, work-permit holders and their spouses, from casino gaming.
What is the legal age?
18. Section 69(2) of the Gaming Act 2014 bars anyone younger from a gaming area, and Atlantis prints the same age on its casino page.
When is WSOP Paradise 2026?
2 to 17 December 2026 at Baha Mar, with 20 bracelet events. Confirm on the WSOP schedule before booking.
Are winnings taxed?
Not in the Bahamas. Gaming taxes are paid by the operator, and there is no income tax. Your home country may still tax the win.

Venue details, opening hours and the legal position on this page were checked against the operators' own material in September 2026. Casinos change hours, games and even addresses; confirm anything you are travelling for on the venue's own site before you go.
