Getting in
The rule that decides a Genting evening is the door, not the table. The operator's published conditions are explicit: gaming is for those aged 21 and above, a valid government-issued photo ID, a Malaysian NRIC or a passport, must be presented, and Malaysian Muslims are excluded. That last rule is not the casino's preference. Under the state Syariah criminal enactments a Muslim Malaysian who gambles commits an offence at any age, with penalties running to fines of RM3,000, two years in prison, or both, and the country page covers how the two legal systems run in parallel.
For a foreign visitor the practical version is short: be 21, carry the passport itself, and expect it to be scanned. Dress is smart casual by the operator's rules; visitor guides add that caps and large bags are refused at the floor entrance, which we could not confirm on the operator's site, so arrive without either.
Two floors on one mountain
SkyCasino opened in 2017 as the resort's premium floor, a high-ceilinged room that trade press compares to Marina Bay Sands. Genting Casino, a new mass-market floor of about 36 conventional tables plus slots and electronic tables, opened in January 2025 to replace older rooms the resort had closed. The combined figures the trade press reports, around 600 tables, 2,000 slots and 1,300 electronic gaming terminals, are the operator's earlier disclosures rather than a count we could make; take them as scale, not inventory.
The table mix is what a Chinese-market floor looks like: baccarat first by a distance, then roulette, blackjack, sic bo and a large electronic section. Poker guides list a poker room on the property; we could not confirm it on the operator's own pages, so ask before travelling for it.
What the tables cost
Baccarat is the game here, and it is one of the cheapest on any floor: the banker bet costs 1.06% and the player bet 1.24%, computed across the full eight-deck game tree. Avoid the tie at 14.36% and the side bets. Roulette on Asian floors is usually the single-zero wheel, 2.70% a spin; confirm the wheel before sitting. Sic bo runs from 2.78% on small and big to well above 10% on the harder totals, and the electronic tables carry the same edges as the live ones they copy.
Practical notes
- The resort sits at about 1,800 metres, an hour north of Kuala Lumpur by road; the cable car from the foot of the mountain is the usual last leg. Bring a layer: it is cool and often in cloud.
- Currency is the ringgit. The cage and the floor are ringgit-only; change at the bank counters rather than the roadside.
- The passport rule is enforced on every entry, not once per trip.
- This is a family resort with theme parks and a casino inside it, so the gaming floors are enclosed and the entrance checks are the boundary.
