About the series
The Aussie Millions was for two decades the most prestigious poker series in the Southern Hemisphere, and it disappeared from the calendar entirely after 2020.
Two things caused the gap. The pandemic closed the 2021 running, and Crown Resorts then spent several years under regulatory scrutiny over Australian anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing compliance, which made restarting a marquee international event impractical.
It returned in 2026, running 24 April to 10 May at Crown Melbourne, with 18 events and a projected AU$14 million prize pool. Tournament poker had already come back to the property in 2024, and the full series followed after a six-year absence.
The series was historically known for its A$100,000 and A$250,000 challenge events, which drew the strongest high-roller fields in the world at the time and arguably created the modern super-high-roller format.

Two things are worth checking that have nothing to do with the poker. Tournament rake is quoted separately in the buy-in, so a $1,000 + $100 event carries a 10% fee, and that fee is the largest single cost most tournament players face.
