The two venues
Holland Casino Amsterdam Centrum
Max Euweplein 62 · open daily 12:00 to 03:00
The main venue, a short walk from Leidseplein and about as central as it gets. The floor covers roulette, blackjack, punto banco, Caribbean Stud, Ultimate Texas Hold'em and Casino 21, alongside a large slot section.
The live poker room is the part worth knowing about: cash games and a scheduled tournament programme, and one of the more reliable poker rooms in the Benelux.
Holland Casino Amsterdam West Sloterdijk
La Guardiaweg 61
A second branch to the west of the centre, easily reached by train from Amsterdam Sloterdijk station. Quieter than the central venue and less oriented toward visitors.
How the Dutch system works
Holland Casino is state-owned and until recently held a legal monopoly on land-based casino gambling in the Netherlands. That has two visible consequences.
The first is consistency: every Holland Casino branch runs the same games under the same rules, so what you learn in Amsterdam applies in Rotterdam or Scheveningen.
The second is a strong responsible-gambling regime. Registration is mandatory, identification is checked properly, and the Netherlands operates Cruks, a national self-exclusion register that blocks a registered person from every licensed operator in the country, online and offline.
Practical notes
Bring a passport or national ID card. Registration is required and enforced; a driving licence is not always accepted for non-residents.
Dress code is smart casual and lightly enforced, though the central venue is stricter in the evening.
The legal age is 18. Dutch tax treats gambling winnings above a threshold as taxable, and the operator generally withholds on large wins at licensed venues, so a substantial result may arrive net.
Honest framing for a trip: Amsterdam is not a gambling destination. It is an excellent city with a good casino in it, and the casino is worth an evening rather than a journey.
Before you go
Two things are worth reading whatever the city. Our house edge entry explains why games that look alike are frequently priced very differently, and hold explains why a 1.4% edge produces a much larger loss across a visit.
Set a budget before you sit down and treat it as the cost of the evening. Our responsible gaming page covers limits and self-exclusion.
